This past weekend, was Homecoming for the University of Arizona and with that brought some of the former Wildcat Softball players, that were inspirations to me, as I was growing up.
In the previous years, as an Arizona player – I played in these exhibition games against them, and never had the opportunity to really sit down and get to know them. This past weekend, I was one of them, a Former Wildcat and this was my opportunity to get to know some of them, a little better. The stories they shared with me, were priceless.
I also got to step in the batters box and face Jenny Finch. She has been an idol of mine ever since I can remember. She is not only a true ambassador of our sport, she and I have something in common, we are both former Wildcats! If you were wondering, she struck me out – but I think the next time I face her, I’d surely send one out of the park, hahaha.
It was also Coach Candrea’s 30th anniversary – which made me think of how lucky I have been, to be Coached by a true legend in our sport, but also to now be a part of a long tradition of great players who take as much pride in being a former Arizona Wildcat, as I do.
